Random bleeding after 4 years on depo

Hi I’m 38 years old have been on the depo for many years had a break when I had my youngest 4 years ago and have been back on it since after she was born never any bleeding on it.. I’m no longer with her dad and not sexually active.I was diagnosed with cin 2 highly grade dyskaryosis in may 25 and had a colposcopy to remove the cells in June 25 I’m due to have my follow up smear in December and I’m still on the depo but I’ve noticed the last few weeks downstairs has felt weird not painful just not normal I’ve ignored it as didn’t seem to warrant concern but today I noticed blood on my pjs and blood when I wiped no other symptoms to suggest a period I’m still on the depo as it has completely stopped my periods and the other time I have bled since been back on the depo four years ago was after the colposcopy I’m just wander if any one else has experienced this and if you think I should be concerned for definite or just panicking over nothing my doctors don’t seem that bothered just been scared since I got my smear results as if anything happens to me my kids are on there own

  • Welcome to the forum Littleblue87 although I'm sorry to hear about the breakthrough bleeding you've been having.

It's completely understandable, and natural, to be concerned so if you're worried then don't hesitate to speak to your doctors again so you can get the answers and reassurance you are seeking at this time. If there is more than one GP working at your surgery, you could try getting a second opinion from another doctor.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will stop by soon to offer their support and advice but if it would help to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you.

We'll have our fingers crossed this isn't any cause for concern Littleblue87 and hope all goes well with your follow up screening in December.

    Kind regards,
