Tongue biopsy recovery is tough

Tongue biopsy recovery is far more painful  than anyone/or the literature  prepares you for !

Day 7 and feeling a lot better but still hurts to eat solid food.

First 3 days codeine helped at night.

Dont think you’re not being strong  or weedy. It is tough but does eventually pass. Salt water rinse after meals feels good.

  • Hi Violet-lake,

    Thank you for the reassurance!

I had my biopsy done 6 days ago with stitches and I still can't talk properly and I have yet to be able to eat solids. Its just still so painful. I've just been having yogurt and custard with paracetamol and ibuprofen. I was not informed on how painful this was going to be so was starting to think something was wrong. I must still be a little swollen as I find myself waking up with my tongue between my teeth so the pain does wake me up.

How do you feel now? Is everything all ok? Do you know which day you were able to start eating and talking again normally?

Thanks again for letting us know as I wasnt given any indication of the pain and was told I could go back to work the next day........ there was no way I was going to make it in.
