Suspected BCC on waterline of eye and I've been told I may not get an appointment at the hospital until after Xmas. Is this a normal wait time?

Had a phone appointment with doctor, just about impossible to get a face to face appointment.   After emailing photos my doctor thinks I may have BCC on the waterline of my eye . He said he will refer me to hospital but I probably won't get appointment until after Xmas.  Can anyone tell me please if this is a normal wait time?  I'm think I'm probably anxious as I had breast cancer last year.

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Wallace16, although I'm sorry to hear about the suspected BCC that's been found on the waterline of your eye and the potential wait you may have to be seen at the hospital. This must be very frustrating.

Hopefully some of our members who have been referred for a suspected BCC will share their wait times with you soon but if you would like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to support you and address any other questions or concerns you may have at this time.

Waiting for appointments is always tough but we are here for you Wallace16, and will have our fingers crossed you will be seen much sooner than what your GP has told you.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Steph, I think I might call one of the nurses tomorrow,  i was caught off guard when the doctor called to tell me.  I haven't told anyone yet as doctor said the word "suspects" and I don't want to worry my family unnecessary after going through treatment last year.
