Hi, I don’t really know where to start. I’m still a little in shock. This all started last September when I started having paid in my lower left side. I had a scan on my ovary’s which showed a small cyst but nothing that could be causing the pain. I was then put on the gastro path to check my bowel. Had a colonoscopy in jan this year which didn’t show anything and biopsies taken, all clear. My symptoms did not stop so I pushed for further investigation. I was referred to a gastroenterologist who did a calprotection test. This came back really high, over 500 so they did an MRI which showed inflammation in my sigmoid colon. I have just had another colonoscopy today which has shown diverticulitis and a large polyp in my sigmoid colon. The dr seemed concerned and I was kept there until he could speak to me. I saw it on the screen and my heart sank, it didn’t look good. He could not reassure me that it was not cancer and has put me through for an urgent CT and I had bloods done today while I was there. He said either way it needs to come out, depending which was the biopsies and ct come back. he took biopsies today but could not remove it, I’m sure he said it was something like 2.4 cm and he was surprised it was not seen in January, as am I.

I’m devastated because everything points to the worst and I feel like the dr does think it’s cancer but did not want to say because I was so upset. He kept saying things will move quickly. I’m also so frustrated that it was not seen on the colonoscopy in Jan because if it was then it could have been removed and if it was anything serious it would have been caught early. Now it has had a further 9 months to grow and god knows what. I feel like my life has just stopped. I can’t think of anything else and I have just been googling everything and it all points to bad news. The bigger the polyp, the worse it is and often means advanced. I’m only 38 and my husband and I were supposed to start IVF this month but have been told it is wise to postpone for now. I’m just absolutely devastated. I don’t know what to do. 

does anyone have any stories similar that had a positive outcome or that the polyps came back benign?
