Timings

Hi everyone, I’m an over-thinker so other experiences would be appreciated. I’ve had 2 colonoscopies where biopsies were taken (one 9 weeks ago and the second 4 weeks ago), I’ve had no results back yet. I have now received in person appointments with the surgeon who did my last procedure and a nurse a few days after. I guess my question is, should I prepare myself for bad news? How long after a biopsy did people find out results?

thank you everyone for any information you can give and I wish you all the very best on your own journeys xxx

  • Hi 2396 I've just read your posts and all i can say is ive had 43 colonoscopys altogether over a period of years. And I've always been given my results quickly mostly on same day, even when polyps have been found and removed, one was a flat sessile polyp ,which had high grade dysplasia, ore cancerous cells So i had to.have a right bowrl resectionin 2915.

. I would try not  to worry, as many a time I had appointments to see surgeon, and it was just to tell me.that benign polyps had been found and cut away, and to tell ne whenever polyps are found during a colonoscopy, id need another colonoscopy the following year again.  . So it might be that. I do hope you get done answers soon.  . Do let us know how you get on .

  • Not a positive outcome for me unfortunately, next is the conversation with treatment and next steps. Staying positive xx

  • Hi,sorry   this,it is scary when you have to see specialist/consultant/ surgeon  to disscuss things  including a treatment plan. But hopefully once you have you will know what you've got to deal with. It brings back memories of when I had to see the surgeon to discuss, what she thought was the best plan of action ...a bowel resection.  I was so scared ,it waant a walk in the park, but I got through it all in 2015,and im still here, id I hadn't of gone through it I may not have been so lucky to still be here now. So yes do try to stay positive  it helps.  Take care and let me know.how you get on.
