cancer?

Hi,

I’ve joined because I am filled with worry…

the last 4 weeks I have a lump on my throat just below my voice box on the right side, I’ve gone to the doctor and I was told I had an ear infection, long story short I took the antibiotics and my lump has stayed the same.. aswell as my ears.. I had no symptoms or changes in my ear before or after being told about an infection.

the lump was by my thyroid at the start and I could see it when I swallowed however it has now moved to the lower part of my throat, I get aches in the lump and I have pain in my left side (at times)

I have had infections before but never ever had a lump swell on my neck…. Should I be worried?

  • Hello nya.x

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a lump and that after taking a course of antibiotics as recommended by your GP, the lump hasn't changed. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

As things haven't changed, it would seem sensible to make another appointment with your GP surgery, who can reassess things and, if necessary, arrange any further treatment or investigations. Hopefully they will be able to give you some reassurance.

If it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

I hope you have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
