15 weeks for biopsy results and counting

I was sent for a endoscopy in June. The found a lesion and they took 2 biopsys. 15 weeks on i called the hospital last week for an update maybe Monday.  They said my results were back and my consultant would write to me.

It's now almost another week and no word.

I'm unsure of time frames to get results but I'm at the point where my anxiety about the situation is impacting my daily life .

Any information or advice would be appreciated.

I lost my mum to LC in 2020 and I shaved my hair off in 2022 to raise money for CR in her memory x

  • Hello Tracy1973,

15 weeks certainly is a long time to be waiting for biopsy results! By now you certainly deserve some answers and I completely understand why what must have felt like an endless wait is impacting your daily life. You did well to call the hospital for an update and if you hear nothing back, I would not hesitate to call them again to try and find out when you should be receiving this important letter from the consultant. Don't hesitate to tell them you have been waiting for biopsy results for 15 weeks and that this has been making you feel anxious and you need to know now what is going on.

The wait is I am sure nearly over and you should be getting some definite answers soon but I thought I would share with you our helpful strategies to help you cope while waiting for news.

I am so sorry to hear you lost your mum in 2020 and thank you so much for your support and your wonderful initiative - it was such a nice and brave gesture to shave your hair off to raise money in her memory.

I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. Keep us updated if you get a moment on what you find out.

    Best wishes,
