Breast lump results

Hi all, just posting whilst on the hideous wait for biopsy results, as I'm sure others have been in this position!

I found a hard lump at the bottom of my right breast, about 8 weeks ago, saw the GP 3 weeks ago, who referred on 2WW to breast clinic.

Saw the Dr in breast clinic who said the lump was indeterminate and could be malignant but could also be a cyst or Fibrodenoma (sp?). So sent me for ultrasound next day.

Had ultrasound, which they then said needed Biopsy and mammogram, as there was a mass in the milk duct. They weren't keen to offer much reassurance that it isn't cancer when I asked, and said just wait for the results.

Had the clinic letter today which noted all of the above but also added that there was reactive lymph nodes also on the right side. And again it just says they will discuss in their MDT and be in touch regarding the outcome.

The radiologist said their MDT is a Monday and that'll be 11 days since the biopsies so I'm really hoping I hear early next week!

I guess I'm just posting to see if anyone has had similar signs and symptoms and if it turned out to be cancerous, or benign? ChatGPT and Google just sends me in circles between feeling reassured and then sure It's cancer, so I need to stop looking things up! But I figure real life experiences might help (either way!)

Thanks in advance!

  • Welcome to the forum Yuffd5012 although I'm sorry about the anxious wait you have for your biopsy results.

As you've mentioned, the waiting can be horrendous but I'm glad you've reached out to us Yuffd5012 as so many of our members will know what you're going through, so you are not alone, and hopefully it won't be long until you receive some support and advice.

I hope this guide we have on how to cope with waiting for news will help in the meantime, but if it would help to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

We're sending you all our support Yuffd5012 and will have our fingers crossed you hear something soon, and that it's good news.

    Kind regards,
