Possible Breast Cancer

I went to my GP today with pain, discharge and skin changes in my right breast and while there she found a lump in my right breast and surprising to me she also found 2 in my left breast. I've had bloods taken and been urgently referred to the breast clinic. I have a lot of family history of breast cancer in my family, I also had precancerous cervical cells when I was 18 (now 34). Trying to remain optimistic while gathering all the information I can to prepare myself for my next appointment. Any advice welcome.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, JLouise34.
It’s completely understandable that your mind is racing after your appointment. Being urgently referred and hearing about lumps in both breasts must have been a real shock, especially with your family history and past cervical cell changes.
It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to stay calm and informed, and that can really help during the waiting period, even though I know how hard it can be.
Many people here will understand exactly how you’re feeling right now, and I hope some will come along to share their experiences and advice while you wait for your next appointment.
If you ever feel like talking things through, our team of nurses is available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Once you know more, please come back if you have a moment. We’ll be thinking about you.
    Best wishes,

  • I don't have any reassurance to offer, but wanted to reply as I know the wait is horrid. I recently had my 2ww appointment (it only took a week!), and am now on the awful wait for biopsy results. Pe onally I've found keeping busy has helped, and avoiding google as it definitely makes me more worried! Will keep fingers crossed all turns out fine for you
