Worried! - blood test showed I have a raised ca125 level of 102 and low ferritin levels of 24. They've said it may be ovarian cancer

Hey! so I’m a little worried I’ve had the results back from my blood test - a raised ca125 level of 102 and low ferritin levels of 24 and worried it may be cancer. They have suggested ovarian cancer and currently awaiting an appointment for an ultrasound.

if so the symptoms of severe abdominal pain accompanied with rectal pain has been going on since I went to A &E with it in 2021.
I get the pain intermittently throughout the year when it happens I’m in a ball on the floor and can’t move. I have only recently started having back ache day to day when I’m not on my period, with slight bowel leakage, with extreme tiredness and joint pain.

I'm terrified if its cancer and this has been going on for years with multiple back and forth to the doctors.

Im 33 and delivered my son in may 2024 so im thinking surely something would have been picked up then?

During pregnancy at about 37 weeks I did have the pain severely one night I woke up in the middle of the night sat on the toilet as I thought I needed to empty my bowels and it came on severe pain up my rectum then in my bladder and I was soon bent over shaking in pain and couldn’t move. I knew it wasn’t the baby and it was this pain I’d had before. They just put it down to pregnancy even though I said I had this pre pregnancy.

just wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms?

Thankyou for reading x

  • Hey, i couldn’t scroll past your post without saying hi and trying to offer some support. ca125 can be raised for many reasons, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there is something scary going on,

after i had my daughter in 2023 and was sterilised during my csection, my body went crazy for well over a year. I was pretty much bleeding constantly and my ferritin was just 13 (24 isn’t too bad)

i was convinced i was dying but after scans, fast tracks, biopsies etc, all that was found was a small fibroid and just rubbish hormones causing all kinds of havoc

you will be fine,  you just need some answers and you can’t get them without having tests etc. you’ve got this xxx

Hey, thank you so much for your reply.

Oh no, I bet you felt awful. I’m glad you are feeling better and it wasn’t anything too serious!
I think when I saw urgent referral for ovarian cancer my mind just went into overdrive!
fingers crossed for the best possible outcome X
