Arm Pain constant and thinning. It's in the opposite arm to where I had my breast cancer. Should I mention this at my follow up appointment next month?

Good evening.

Can anyone relate? I was treated for stage 1 grade 2 Hers2 pos invasive breast cancer 21 Months ago successfully. Following on from this, for the past couple of Months (maybe longer), I have been suffering with left arm pain (constant) and note that arm is thinning (opposit arm from previous breast cancer. My bones seem to hurt. I have a follow up breast scan next month. Should I mention this at breast clinic?

  • Hello AngMD,

As I noticed your post hadn’t yet received a reply, I just wanted to stop by to say hello and welcome you to the forum.

I’m sorry to hear about the arm pain and changes you’ve been experiencing. It’s completely understandable to feel concerned, especially given your history. The fact that the pain is in the opposite arm from where you had your treatment, along with the thinning, is definitely something to mention at your follow-up appointment next month. Your healthcare team will be in the best position to assess things and guide you on any next steps.

I’m sure others here will be able to relate, so please don’t hesitate to connect with the group. You’re not alone, and we’re all here to support you, whether you want to talk things through or just share how you’re feeling.

I also wanted to let you know that our team of nurses is available if you’d prefer to speak with someone directly. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply. I will definately mention it at my next breast screening and am now going to book a Doctors appointment in the interim as there is no let up on pain so definately needs investigating
