Stomach pain

I have had ( for almost a year) a pain in my left side. Generally below my ribs but occasionally lower and very occasionally on my right side. Sometimes it's like a stitch pain , sometimes like an ache. It's always worse when I'm lying down and usually worse if I lie on my right side. ( A hot water bottle helps) I have been examined several times and nothing obvious was found. I've had blood tests, and upper and lower abdominal scan ( all fine ) and a chest x- ray ( fine) . Just recently the pain is worse immediately after I've had a bowel movement. Also it's been a lot worse lately as I've been really stressed, and I've also had fairly frequent diarrhoea. Many years ago I was diagnosed with IBS, but it hasn't really bothered me too much. I do also have LPR  . Sorry for the long post!! I

Things are settling now that life isn't so stressful and I'm learning to manage my stress but I still have the pain

  • Hi Lihame and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the pain you've been contending with for almost a year now. This must be very frustrating, especially when all the tests you had came back clear.

I'm not sure from your post if you have been back to your GP since these new developments have occurred with your bowel movements but if not, make sure you do as your GP will be able to examine you once more and refer for further tests if needed.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon, but in the meantime we hope the pain subsides and you're able to get some much needed answers and peace of mind over this soon.

    Kind regards,
