Hysteroscopy due this Thursday - will it go ahead if I've started bleeding?

Hi

No periods for over a year then tried HRT in Feb 25 swapped to continuous HRT conti patches in May 25 then a light bleed in July. So the Doctor starts a referral.  Blood tests just showed low B12( asked to take vitamins ) and  slightly elevated protein serum the CA125 is all good.   Had internal scan it showed borderline lining so then booked in for a hysteroscopy  which is this Thursday

Saturday I started what looks and feels like a full period and today Tuesday I'm still bleeding but not as heavy.  I really want to get the hysteroscopy over and done with but read that if your bleeding heavily then you should rearrange.  I haven't rescheduled yet as I'm hoping tomorrow day five will be lighter?  Has anyone had a hysteroscopy when bleeding or did they instantly reschedule.  What would you class as heavy bleeding?

  • Hello Niknak01 and welcome to the forum.

I'm really sorry no-one was able to get back to you before your appointment today, but I hope your bleeding improved and the hysteroscopy was able to go ahead.

If there is anything else playing on your mind that you'd like to discuss further, you can give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their experiences with you soon but in the meantime, we're sending you all our support Niknak01 and hope everything will turn out o.k.

    Kind regards,

  • It still went ahead which was a relief and the actual procedure wasn't as bad as I thought. The staff were lovely.  They did a biopsy as well but Dr felt the cause will most likely be my HRT so I need to look into that next whilst waiting for the results.  Thanks for responding
