Lump above right collar bone

Hi everyone,

I really hope someone can help me as I’m feeling a bit terrified right now.
I have health anxiety which is pretty new since I found a lump in my neck in February. I have since found a lump in my groin. Both lumps in my neck and groin have been examined and I was told they are lymphnodes. I have been to the doctors quite a few times since then and have been told the same thing.
I have now today found a new lump, it is around three fingertips long and is above my collarbone on the right hand side.
I have not had one this big before and am getting myself into a state.
I have read up on it and apparently it’s reassuring that the lump is on the right side and not the left.
I can only feel it when my arm is in a certain position.
I’m worried to go the doctors again as they may be annoyed. I feel like I’m stuck as out of all the lumps I have found over the last 6 months, this is by far the scariest because of the size of it and the one where I now feel unable to see the GP. it’s worth nothing that I have been slightly unwell over the last 2 days too- I’ve had body aches and a bit of a cold which has now surpassed.
if anyone could offer me any advice I would be really grateful.
My grandma passed away 4 years ago from lymphoma so I’m sick with anxiety.
thank you.

  • Hello Nalaacey,

I think you did well - even if you suffer from health anxiety - to have these lumps examined and it's reassuring news that the lump in your neck and groin turned out to be just lymph nodes. I think given that this new lump hasn't been examined before and you are worried about it because it is bigger than the others, it would not do any harm to go back to the doctor's and no one will be annoyed so don't hold back seeing the GP it is in fact very important that you get it checked for your peace of mind and so that you know what this new lump is. You can also mention that you have felt unwell recently if you think it is relevant.

I hope that you manage to speak to a doctor soon and that you get the reassurance you need. I am so sorry to hear too that you grandma passed away 4 years ago from lymphoma - this must have been heart-breaking for you and it seems to have triggered some anxiety in you and it might also be worth mentioning this health anxiety to the doctor when you have your appointment.

    Best wishes,
