Mum of 2 - on fast track for mammogram

Hi all

gosh! This is a bit scary isn’t it I have been having ongoing breast: mainly armpit pain for the last 3 or more months. I initially thought I’d pulled a muscle or hormonal changes, anyways, ignored it and buried my head in the sand for a while. On Saturday I found small lump in my armpit (possibly thought it was a lymph node) the following day I found it difficult to find again. I went to the doctors yesterday and he said also there was a lump, pea size, it is painful to touch and when he was examining it wasn’t in the area I initially found. On self examination i can’t really feel it myself but my breast is extremely tender, dull ache and general pain. No other symptoms such as discharge, pitting etc. I am now absolutely spiralling and googling until the sun comes up.

any advice or just general I don’t know…help.

Many thanks

It’s understandable that you’re feeling anxious right now. Waiting for tests, especially when your mind is racing with what-ifs, can feel really overwhelming.
You’ve done the right thing by going to your GP and getting things checked out. It’s not uncommon for lymph nodes to feel different at different times, and the fact that the lump is painful to touch can often point to something non-cancerous, though I know that doesn’t stop the worry. Breast pain and tenderness can also be caused by many things, including hormones, but I understand that reassurance can feel hard to hold onto while you wait for answers.

Please try to be kind to yourself in the meantime, easier said than done, I know and if you can, try to step away from Google. It often causes more anxiety than clarity.
