Endometrial cancer or something else

I am a 42yr old Female. I had some premenopausal symptoms 20 months ago. I took a home FSH test that was positive but not long after the symptoms seemed to subside. However since around October last year I started getting irregular menstrual cycle and around 5 months ago started bloating.

I have had the following symptoms lower back ache(dull) lower right abdominal pain and central abdominal pain that is also dull. Nausea and bloating. I struggle to eat because of the swelling. Also passing what feels like golf ball size clots when I have my period.

The GP was extremely good and I have had blood tests (CA 125 is 14 and FSH 3.7)  it showed nothing else other than anaemia. Stool samples including FIT all normal. Ultrasounds all normal(endometrial wall 13mm 7 days after menstrual cycle.) Vaginal swabs also all clear.

The pain I am experiencing is like constant period pain or the start of labour. The vaginal pain is worsened and the abdominal pain that was just on the right is now both sides and central. I am fatigued but some days are better than others. If all the tests are clear what would be the next steps as I feel I may have to just accept this as my new normal.

  • Hello Gertie22,

Poor you these sound like rather unpleasant symptoms! That constant pain you are experiencing must be quite hard to bear and I am glad you have such a good GP who ran all those tests for you but I think it's important to go back to your GP especially as you seem to have such a good rapport with your doctor. You could also try and speak to another doctor just to get a second opinion. Explain that even though all the tests have come back clear you are still having all these issues and they are interfering with your daily life. Ask whether there are any other tests available or what the next steps might be. You shouldn't have to suffer or live with these symptoms so I hope that they find what the cause is and that you get the right treatment to sort these issues out once and for all.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had similar symptoms in the past and that they will share their experiences with you.

    Best wishes,
