Being told I will likely have inflammatory breast cancer and very scared

I have a very hard red left breast, which was 1st told it was an infection from the GP, went back after taking antibiotics as no change referred to hospital breast screening. Had mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. Further told before and after biopsy that I likely have inflammatory breast cancer and then the same via a hospital letter. My appointment for the biopsy result which the hospital have had since Friday is not until until 8 days…I am so scared the delay is going to continue the spread of this if the results are as they believe

  • Hi Sap,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

It is always a worrying time until you get a full diagnosis. I just wanted to reassure you that the delay you are experiencing is normal. Once your biopsy results are returned to the hospital, your consultant will hold an MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting. This will involve most of the professionals who are likely to be involved in your treatment. Here they will discuss your biopsy results and the best possible treatment for you. When you see your consultant for the biopsy results, you will find that they usually have a treatment plan ready for you. It is normal to have to wait 2-3 weeks for biopsy results and it is unlikely that your cancer will spread any further in that time.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
