Small red bump

Hello, feel like i need to come here for peace of mind before making a gp appointment.

Im 20 years old and have had this hard, red lump on my right breast for about three weeks now. It feels like, and is no bigger than, a tiny piece of gravel just below the skin. It doesn't feel attached to any deeper tissue, and i can pick it up with my skin and sort of roll it in my finger if that makes any sense. It’s completely painless and the only skin changed i've had is a tiny amount of redness and dry skin directly above where it sits. And have also had zero other symptoms/lump or bump. Im used to acne so i know its not a pimple.

I know it may not be anything sinister due to my age, but as a bit of a hypochondriac i cant help but panic, assume the worst, and dr google doesnt help haha. Anyone experienced anything similar? I’ve briefly heard of fibroadenoma but i’m not sure due to the pimple-like appearance. Thanks!

  • I had a fibroadenoma in my 20s and it was deep-seated in my breast so not like you describe, although I'm sure they are all different.

Could yours be a cyst perhaps, or inflamed hair follicle.

Maybe even a blocked milk duct depending on the location. I also have one of those and it's a permanent lump near my nipple.

The GP is the only one who can know for sure but in the meantime, try not to panic x
