an attached mass

i found a lump last night on my left breast just above the areola, so i went to the drs today to get it checked out. The dr said it feels like a mass which seems attached and has referred me and should get an appointment in a couple of weeks to get it checked out.  Does anyone know what the difference between a lump that feels it can move around and a lump that is attached and if there is a chance of cancer on both types of lumps or more than one than the other. Im 57 years with  diabieties 2 and family history is mum had breast cancer.

  • Hello antsandi3

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently discovered a lump. It's good to know that you've already seen your GP and that you've been referred to the breast clinic for further investigations.

You might find it helpfu lto give our nurses a call and chat through your questions with them. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can ahead of your appointment with the specialist. If you'd like to talk with them, they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your appointment. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
