Waiting for the next step

I have been told that my elbow injury and lump ‘“looks’ like cancer and they ‘think’ it is cancer. I have a biopsy on Tuesday. I suppose I didn’t expect them to say that in a phone call following an mri/ct and bloods, I just thought I would have been told when they knew. I’m trying not to worry but am now stressing about what happens next. Is it normal to be told that way and what if it’s not true, that can’t be right?

  • Hello Thecparker1974,

With symptoms like lumps, it can be difficult to know for sure so sometimes further tests are needed and your doctor won't be able to give you a definite answer without enough results, but I hope your biopsy went ok today. When you are waiting for results it can be a stressful time, but it's great that you're trying not to worry. If you do find it stressful we have some tips around coping with waiting for news, which I hope will be helpful.

    Best wishes to you,
