Polyps and lining of the womb

I’ve just recently joined I wanted to get some advice and support please. I have been through a horrendous journey with HRT starting with a breast lump fine last year I came off HRT and the lining of my womb went down to 4 m after the removal of a hormonal coil that has embedded itself  in the uterus in January this year.  I went back on HRT on a low dose for 10 weeks. The lining of the womb went from 4MM to 10 MM in a 10 week period polyps and cysts arrived in the ovaries polyps  biopsy showed non-cancerous on polyps, cysts and lining of the womb. Polyps were removed in June this year showing as non-cancerous I have had another scan and polyps have returned in less than a two month window and the lining of the womb has gone up to 11 MM. I saw my consultant yesterday and the concern is that the polyps have returned in less than two months and have been advised to have a hysterectomy which is booked in September. I am now going back in for a biopsy on the polyps to check non-cancerous. Has anyone else experienced this? My concern is that the polyps returning so quickly within a two month period could show cancer

  • Hello and welcome to the forum,

It's encouraging that your previous biopsy showed non-cancerous lumps. Polyps and cysts can occur for all sorts of reasons, so it's important that this continues to be monitored and in some cases further tests or surgery is advised.

When you’re worried that you may have cancer, it can be natural to think the worst, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better so it's helps to raise any questions or concerns you have with your consultant.

I hope this is useful and that the hysterectomy goes ok for you,

  • Thank you for your email. It is very hard not to panic. I have further biopsies next week on the uterine cavity wall polyps that have returned which will be removed endometrial uterus cavities. The consultant initially said he was removing the fallopian tubes but cannot confirm the extent of hysterectomy until the biopsies come back. my concern is yes the polyps and the cysts were no benign in June this year but if there is cancer in the fallopian tubes this would not have been detected .
