CA125 result came back as 38, over the normal range. Booked in for a scan next week and I'm terrified

Hi everyone, I suppose I’m posting on here to hopefully get a bit of support. I’m 53 years old and have had consistent bloating (I tend to bloat anyway) and some constipation for about eight months. Put it down to eating too much bread and probably the menopause/HRT. I have no other symptoms, no pain and I’m running regularly each week. I had various blood test done which all came back as negative except for the CA125 which is over the normal range and was measured at 38. I have been fast tracked for a scan which I have booked in next Thursday, but needless to say and terrified!

  • Hello Marlana, and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear how worried you are about your CA125 test result, but I hope it helps to know that a lot of our members have had similar results to you, so you are not alone Marlana, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

A raised CA125 result can also occur due to other benign conditions so try not to panic or think the worst until you know more. Much easier said than done, I know, but if it would help to talk things through with someone you can give one of our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and answer any other questions you may have at this time.

We're here for you Marlana and wishing you all the best with your scan next week. We hope it goes well and the results bring good news when they come through.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
