Worried about symptoms, waiting for mammogram

I thought I was pre-menapausal,  I've had no periods  for 7 months.  Last week I noticed discharge coming from my nipples, more so the left bit i can get some out the right if I squeeze it. GP had a feel and found no lumps, but noticed my lymph nodes are swollen. I'm sick with nerves waiting for a referral. Today I tried to feel my nodes but think I have felt a lump in my right breast. My nipples feel sensitive.  Anyone had similar?

  • Hello Bella_Gio14,

You did well to go and see your GP after you noticed this discharge coming from your nipples. It's a good thing that he referred you to have a mammogram when he noticed your lymph nodes were swollen and it's normal to feel anxious while waiting for this referral. I hope that you won't have to wait too long to be seen and make sure you mention all the things you have noticed  that you think you have felt a lump in your right breast and also it's worth sharing with them too the fact that you have noticed a discharge coming from your nipples, that your nipples feel sensitive and that you have not had any periods for 7 months.

The period of waiting for tests and results is such an anxious time and I hope that you will get an appointment soon for the mammogram. It's normal to be nervous and for your mind to spiral out of control with all sorts of thoughts and questions so I would suggest you have a look at our helpful tips  to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Other members of our community will have been through something similar and I will let them come and say hello and share their experiences with you. We're keeping everything tightly crossed for you that you get some answers soon and that it all turns out to be nothing to worry about.
