Biopsy - received text message with a date...

Hi,

My partner had a biopsy carried out on his prostate yesterday, actually by a senior consultant due to the strike.

Today he received a text message saying a phone call would happen on the 7th August to discuss the results.

Is that normal practice? It's actually all been really fast on a 2 week pathway.

He is early 50s ans psa was 5, mri showed nothing significant but a darker area around the prostate.

So does the text mean the results are already back?

Would they tell him bad news over the phone?

  • Hello Pally_pocket

I'm sorry to hear that your partner has recently had a biopsy. It's understandable that this may be an anxious time for you both.

Given that you had the text message only 24 hours after his biopsy, I would suspect that this follow-up appointment has been made before the results have returned. It is most likely an automated message sent out by the hospital system after the clerical team has made the appointment. Try not to worry about the speed with which you have received this appointment date.

Hopefully when your partner speaks with the specialist next week they will be able to give you both some reassurance. Let us know how he gets on.

    Best wishes,
