79, PSA 10, 2 month development of sciatica and bowel problems

I'm 79 and  over the last 2 months have had slowly developing sciatica and bowel problems. My PSA has risen from 6.3 to 10 in the last year. Is this a sign of very aggressive  prostate cancer

  • Hello PeteT

I'm sorry to hear that over the last couple of months, you've been dealing with sciatica and bowel problems. I hope that your GP is helping you try to improve these issues.

There are many reasons why a PSA level can be raised. What has your GP said about the results? Are they referring you to a specialist for further testing?

If you'd like to talk through your concerns with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can.

I do hope that you get some answers and reassurance soon, Pete.

    Best wishes,
