Terrified i have bowel/colon cancer

Hi

I feel so embarrassed posting this but need I need some reassurance. Years ago I was told by a doctor that I had IBS due to ny need to go to the bathroom so quickly after a meal.

I have always been able to pass stool easily and have never had what would be recognised as a typical 'Solid stool'. My usual routine has always been to go not long after meals and can usually pass stool 3+ times a day.

However over the past few weeks, I have noticed that i have not been going after meals like I usually would, but having said this have also  not felt the need too. I also have noticed kn occasion what looks like clear slime when I wipe.

Likewise, although I have not been going to the loo after meals, I am still going regularly, maybe 2-3+ times a day both large and small amounts.

I have health anxiety and have convinced myself that this change is due to bowel or colon cancer.

  • Welcome to the forum Emjad although I'm sorry to hear you're worried that your symptoms may be a sign of bowel/colon cancer.

It's always scary when we notice changes but try not to jump to conclusions or assume the worst if you can. Much easier said than done, I know, but if you go back to your GP and tell them about the changes in your bowel habits they will be able to investigate and hopefully put your mind at ease.

Our members know how tough it can be to go through something like this, so you are not alone Emjad, and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime, I hope this advice we have on how to cope with waiting for news and these tips I've found on managing anxiety will help to steady your nerves.

We're thinking of you Emjad and hope everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
