Endometrial cancer or something else?

I am 45 and have suffered with frequent, heavy and prolonged bleeding for over the last year, with pain and problems with bladder and bowels. I went to the doctor and was sent for a pelvic/transvaginal scan.

The radiologist said she had seen adenomyosis, thickened endometrial lining (15mm) at fundus, suspected polyps with feeder vessels, intramural fibroids, not able to see endo myometrial junction. Also increased vascularity with bilateral pelvic varices. The radiologist said I must contact the doctor within the week.

The doctor organised a 2ww appointment. The day after is was cancelled and downgraded to urgent.
what is classed as urgent because I thought the 2 ww was urgent. How long am I likely to wait now as the worrying is terrible.

Xx

  • Welcome to the forum Scoobydoo1980 although I'm sorry about the symptoms you've been contending with over the last year, it sounds like it's been very difficult.

As you say, the 2 week wait referral is what the urgent suspected cancer referral used to be called so I'm not entirely sure what has happened in your case. Maybe you could ask your doctor to chase this up for you so you can get some clarification and find out how long you may be waiting for your appointment.

We also have a team of very helpful and insightful cancer nurses you can discuss this with on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk and they will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

This situation must be very frustrating but I and the rest of the Cancer Chat community are sending you all our support Scoobydoo1980 and we'll have our fingers crossed this can get sorted out soon.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
