Hadfields Procedure

Hiya. Im going in for diagnostics surgery on Wednesday having ducts removed. I have been told this is around a 20 minutes procedure but under General Anesthetic. Does anyone know if I can request not to be intubated or any form of tube (laryngeal mask airway) i want to have it as a spontaneous ventilation where its only oxygen mask or high flow nasal tubes. Has anyone requested this before?

  • Hello miaellen92

I'm sorry to hear that you're due to go into the hospital on Wednesday for a Hadfield's procedure. It's understandable that you may have some concerns about things.

You will need to talk with the hospital team about your concerns regarding intubation. It may be an idea to try and get in touch with the Consultant's secretary tomorrow if you're able to, but certainly talk with the anaesthetist when you go in on Wednesday. It may be that they can put your mind at ease regarding any specific concerns you have.

I do hope that things go smoothly for you.

    Best wishes,
