Hopefully not Liver C

Hi all,

I have suffered with multiple mouth ulcers since November 2024 and despite repeated courses of antibiotics, they are still present. I was diagnosed with oral cancer in December 2024 and due to chemo, I was luckily declared cancer-free at the end of March 2025.

During my treatment, an endoscopy revealed a 16mm lesion on my liver and I am due to see my hepatologist on 22 July.

Internet knowledge is not always a good thing, but I have read that a symptom of liver problems is pain in the right shoulder due to the pressing of those nerves......I've had horrendous shoulder pain since February, so I am obviously anxious.

I suffered with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia from July 2010 til May 2014, so my immunity is low....could this be a factor?

I appreciate any help/advice or comments

  • Hi Jay13,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear you have an appointment coming up soon and I hope it's not long to wait to get the information you need.

Unfortunately I'm unable to advise on your question, but you can of course discuss this at the appointment.

If you'd like to talk things through with someone prior to that, you are welcome to give our nurses a call. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5. You can also post in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum.

Otherwise, if others here have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll see your post and send a reply.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
