I am post menopausal 61 and on hrt - A year ago I was fast tracked to the gynae dept because of spotting and underwent scans and a hysteroscopy . They discovered fibroids and a thickened lining. The thickness wasn’t too bad but at 5.5mm it was just over the normal threshold for a post menopausal woman with spotting. . They found and removed a polyp above my cervix . Womb lining was fine though. So all was good news.
Two weeks ago i suddenly started bleeding very heavily and unexpectedly - with large clots - I was having to change pads hourly and it was much heavier than my heaviest period used to be. I made an emergency gp appointment - and the gp gave me Tranexamic acid tabs which really made a difference and slowed down the bleeding - i took these for a few days - then could cope - the bleeding finally stopped after 9 days . I had a fast track again to the Gynecology department for an ultrasound scan internal and external yesterday followed by a hysteroscopy, and was seen yesterday .
The change was a lot - the lining had increased to 10mm and my fibroids had increased in size. The most concerning thing was the look of my womb lining endometrium. The nurse who was doing the procedure was concerned remarked that is was extremely vascular ( full of visible blood vessels and looked abnormal . She said on a basic level I had hyperplasia but to fully diagnose it and on the basis of appearance she took a sample during the hysteroscopy .
It may be nothing I realise, but I now have that long wait to find out. Which I am sure you many of you have been through. So won’t know the results from two- four weeks. So different to a year ago when the lining looked healthy,
I guess I just want to be prepared for any outcome -
Did anyone here have a visibly vascular endometriam and what happened - was it just simple hyperplasia? Or something else.
Sending love to all.
