Im looking for some support / information whilst i wait for my breast biopsy results.
Im 45 and found a lump earlier this week in my right breast and it was painful (more so after poking and prodding it!) Nurse thought cyst but referred to breast clinic. I am of a slim build and was told at a previous appointment that i have dense breast tissue.
Fast forward to my appointment yesterday at the one stop breast clinic. The consultant also thought cyst and i went on to have an ultrasound under both armpits and on the lump and surrounding area (Id already had a mammogram during a previous appointment last December so this wasnt offered yesterday)
The radiographer said it did look cyst like but was inflamed around the cyst walls so wanted to do a needle aspiration 1st to test and then a core biopsy if this didnt drain the fluid.
The needle aspiration didnt drain the fluid and he said this could be due to it being a “thick, oil” type substance. He then went ahead with the Core biopsy and then confirmed that this did then cause it to burst and it showed “flat” but would still send off to be tested.
Has anybody else gone through this? I felt quite relieved when he said it had burst but still have the worry of up to 6 days for confirmed results
Thank you for listening! X
