Hi,
After years of IBS, symptoms have recently got worse, particularly with lower left abdomen pain, and following a barrage of tests, everything has come back normal, apart from a FIT test of 70ug
Faecal Calprotectin came back as <30 ug though, which seems to guide away from IBD according to what I can find online.
I have a telephone appointment tomorrow, and the test record suggests referring under 2ww fast track pathway for suspected colorectal cancer.
I'm assuming I'll be referred for a colonoscopy to identify the cause of the blood, and I'm aware that there are several other more likely causes than cancer. I did have a colonoscopy in 2018, when they removed some small polyps, although I don't believe they came back as anything to be concerned about.
I had a FIT test done nearly a year ago, which was <4, so something seems to have changed. I also had a Bowel Cancer screening test done only a month ago, which came back negative, but I gather that they use a higher limit (120 possibly), so it's quite possible that it was already high then.
Is there anything else I should expect in terms of the response, or any advice from others who have been through the process so I can ensure things happen as they should?
