Worried and scared - after having a colposcopy 2 years ago, I've now found a bump on my cervix

Hello! Im a 22 year old female who had a colposcopy done two years ago for abnormal bleeding between periods and painful intercourse. They said I have cervical ectropian with no abnormal cells but HPV is present. I have cold coagulation which helped with the bleeding between periods.

fast forward two years (now) I found a bump on my cervix when I was in the shower so I made an appointment with the doctor and he did a physical examination and confirmed he sees a round lump that’s 1cm that had blood flow to it.
I don’t have any symptoms, no spotting or cramps. I googled my symptoms and it says I’m most likely stage 1B1.
I haven’t had children yet and always wanted them but the treatment for this is a radical hysterectomy. I’m worried and really sad. Can anyone relate?

  • Hello Sun_flower4556 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the bump you found on your cervix and for the worry this is understandably causing.

I know it's difficult but try not to research anything online until you know more as the information given on search engines like Google can be very generic and may not apply to your individual situation. Also, looking things up when you don't know for sure what you're dealing with yet will only make your fears and worries worse, so try to steer clear if you can.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon, but if it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very understanding and will do all they can to support you and address any other questions you may have at this time.

Do let us know how you get on and remember that we will always be here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
