2nd biopsy

I had a core biopsy 3 weeks ago, they said they'd taken 8 small samples. The tests have come back inconclusive and I'm due at the hospital again tomorrow for a vacuum biopsy!!

I've felt fine until tonight and concerned why I've been recalled...why could they not get a clear test after taking 8 samples already?

Apparently I'm still on 3 on a scale of 1-5.

The lump is very deep and was found on my 50 year invite for my mammogram.

Had anyone else been throught this

Thanks xx

  • Hi Ruby-B.

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you need a second biopsy. This does unfortunately happen and can be frustrating. It is reassuring that your consultant is being thorough. Many of us get a little nervous the night before we are due to attend the clinic. More people are recalled after their first mammogram, than any subsequent one. This is because there are no previous mammograms to compare the findings to.

I do hope that all goes well for you tomorrow and that nothing untoward is found. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • So I've had the vacum biopsy this morning and they decided to remove the lump.

    Wow I'm in pain now..

Just got to wait for results

  • Hi Ruby-B,

I am sorry to hear that you are in pain now. Did they tell you to use your normal painkillers tonight if you need them? I hope that it settles down soon. Did they say how long you would have to wait for the results? Are they treating the lump as cancerous, or is the removal just precautionary? Sorry to barrage you with so many questions.

Please let us know how you get on and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • They said paracetamol but I do have some codeine which I'm going to take soon and go to bed.

Not much was said, I didn't expect today's procedure and  didn't ask many questions as I wasn't prepared.

    Results in 2 weeks

    Thank you x
