Lump in right breast, now new burning sensation in left breast

Hi all,

Looking for either advice/reassurance please.

I'm early 30s and found a lump in my right breast 6 months ago, it was very tiny, I have lumpy breasts anyway which I discovered in my 20s after finding a lump and it been checked through the 2 week pathway so I thought at the time it's most likely that and  I am prone to worry a lot about my health so thought it was more health anxiety. Last week I noticed the lump has grown and did see my GP who referred me to the breast clinic, they said it will take a bit longer than two weeks so still waiting for an appointment.

I am now experiencing a horrible burning and pulling sensation in my left breast, I can't feel any lump in my left breast and just wondered do I bother my GP again with this new feature or just wait until the clinic? Or is it nothing to even worry about. My grandmother sadly had breast cancer so I have always been on the cautious side I guess

Sorry for the waffle and thanks in advance, but wondering if anyone has had this and what the outcome was?

  • Hello Hhall1 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the lump in your right breast and for the worry these symptoms in your left breast are causing.

If they don't improve, or continue to get worse, then do let your GP know as they'll be in the best position to advise. There's no harm in letting the breast clinic know about this when you see them as well as they may be able to examine both breasts when you go for your appointment.

So many of our members have been in similar situations, so you're not alone on this journey Hhall1, and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their thoughts and advice.

You can also talk things through with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and ease your mind whilst you wait for your appointment to come through.

We know how scary and stressful this time must be for you but I hope it helps to know that we are here for Hhall1 and sending you all our support.

Fingers crossed everything will be o.k.
