I am sorry to hear about your mother's weight loss and understand your concern. Unfortunately, there can be no specific answer to your question, as weight loss can be a symptom of many different cancers types.
I am glad to hear that she has seen her GP and that she is having some tests to see whether or not cancer is present. These tests should soon give you some answers. This is always a worrying time waiting for a diagnosis. There are a number of less serious causes of weight loss too, so here's hoping that nothing untoward is found.
