Rectal pressure, pelvic pain, change in bowel movements. Worried!

Hi

i’m very worried and just looking for any1 who may have had similar issues as me.

i’ve had IBS my whole life - always on the constipated side.

A couple years ago I developed a niggling discomfort just under my lower left rib. I also suffer from reflux. (Pretty sure due to chronic stress). But about a yr ago I started having soft stools that would come out in blobs and that’s still what I mostly have, I also rarely feel like I’ve finished a bowel movement. I hadnt changed my diet but I was stressed. I’ve also had on and off over maybe a few months a pressure and feeling of something just inside my bum. However last week I had that for a whole week. I’ve also been having discomfort in my left lower pelvic area. I went to the Dr and she did a rectal exam but couldnt feel anything and she couldnt feel anything pressing my belly. She wants me to do a blood test and a FIT test. This weekend I thought I felt something when pressing on my left pelvis and don’t know if it’s just a poo! I have now also got pelvic pain - left and right and lower back pain and still a feeling of slight pressure in my bum.
I have health anxiety and obviously Google is telling me the worst!
sorry for the long post, really hoping to hear from anyone who may have had similar that turned out not to be what Google says!

  • Hi Rainbow and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and for the worry they are causing. It must be very difficult, especially when contending with health anxiety.

It's always scary when experiencing any unusual or unexplained symptoms but hopefully the tests you'll be having will be able to offer some insight and provide you with some much needed answers and peace of mind.

Quite a lot of our members have been in a similar position as well, so you are not alone Rainbow, and I'm sure it won't be long until some of them stop by to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime, try to steer clear of Google if you can as the information given there is very generalised and will only make your worries worse.

We're thinking of you Rainbow and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you Steph I appreciate your response. I’m even more panicky today as the pressure feeling won’t go and tonight I woke up damp so having night sweats now too!
i know you’re right to stay off Google but it’s so hard when you’re worried and looking for reassurance x
