Symptoms - 6 day headache and I feel like I'm loosing my marbles

Hi everyone.

I know a headache can be a symptom of so many other things but this one has been going on for six days with additional symptoms including: nausea, vomiting blood, severe dizziness, fatigue, just feeling like I’m loosing my marbles.

I went to the gp who basically yelled at me and told me to stop wasting her time. So I’ve left feeling like I’m a time waster and there’s nothing wrong with me. However this headache has been dull and throbbing at the back of my head constantly I’m so tired but any pressure on my head makes it worse, and when I put pressure on my head my ears start to ring and my face goes numb kind of like when you’re upside down doing a handstand.

I am also on the pill due to heavy periods and I know they can make you more susceptible to brain cysts and such. However I’m fully aware there are other possibilities for my symptoms too but I could just do with some help.

xx

  • Hi JO7,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am not a doctor, but I am aware that there could be several, less drastic reasons, for your headache - for example, most of the signs you mention, could also account for a migraine. I am so sorry to hear about how your GP reacted at your last consultation. Would it be possible for you to make an appointment with another doctor in the practice? You might find it helpful to write down your symptoms before you see this doctor, giving start and finish dates.

Please do return to the practice and get checked out. We would welcome you keeping in touch and letting us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

I’ve recently seen another gp who agreed there’s something off with my headaches. Ruled out migraine and muscular in the process also uncovered a heart murmur. However also in the last days I’ve found a hard lump on the back of my head which was never there before.

    Hi JO7,

I am glad to hear that you have since seen another GP, who has ruled out migraine and muscular problems, but I'm sorry to hear about your heart murmur.

It sounds as if this doctor took you more seriously, which I am relieved to hear. Where has this left you? Have any further tests or referrals been made? Have you found this lump on the back of your head since you saw this GP? If so, it might be worth making another appointment, to let her/him know of this.

Do please let us know how you get on  from here.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

Yes I only found it Friday and saw gp Wednesday. Looking to get an mri and heart scans. Don’t know how long that’ll take. X

That's reassuring. An MRI should show if there is anything untoward, so there is probably no need to contact your doctor again. I doubt that you'll have to wait too long for that or the heart scan. Here's hoping that you'll feel happier, when these have been carried out.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
