Breasts, shoulder and flank pain.

I have pain in both breasts mostly left breast, my right shoulder blade, centre of upper back and down into my flank. It comes on in the evening whilst I am resting and feels like a deep ache and stabbing pain. It gets really bad and I have sometimes cried with the pain. This is not me as I am used to pain, having had all sorts of surgeries in the past. I don’t exercise so haven’t done anything that could cause muscular pain and it comes on me when resting.
I have had the back shoulder and flank pain for about 3-4 months now and just put up with it as I had surgery on my neck and shoulder in the past and thought maybe it’s connected.
However this pain has been unbearable at times, so I went to see my orthopaedic surgeon who did the shoulder op, she said given its position and how I described it, it is definitely not linked to the shoulder and has referred me to a pain management team and also back to my neck consultant. However I now have breast pain which feels quite painful, there is a slight redness and some little red marks on my left breast and if I touch my breast it’s sore. I was born with inverted nipples so have no indicator there to go on.
any useful comments please would be much appreciated x

  • Hello Mamadetres,

I'm sorry about these pains you've been having, but you did the right thing in seeing your doctor about it. If you'd like more information about the referral process you can read your urgent referral explained on our website. Keep communicating with your doctor if any of your symptoms change and hopefully something can be prescribed to help with the pain. You can also ask your doctor about that if you haven't already.

    Best wishes to you,
