Multiple reactive enlarged lymph nodes in neck, help!

So the 6th of may I had an ultrasound scan on my neck/thyroid as I’ve had 3 lumps (2 on my jawline, 1 near thyroid) for over a year. The ultrasound technician said in level 3 of my neck I have multiple reactive enlarged lymph nodes there and for my age (I’m 28) that there shouldn’t be this many enlarged and come back in 8 weeks for a rescan. I’m honestly beside myself worrying about this, I have other symptoms breathlessness, fatigue, occasional night sweats, constantly got a cough/cold and catching every viral or illness that crosses my path. It’s so draining now and I’ve got to wait until July for another scan!! What would the next steps be if they’re still enlarged? I’d rather know what’s to come just in case. Thanks for reading x

  • Hello GxJ

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently dealing with some ongoing health problems. It sounds like it's been a really draining time for you.

Whilst it's great to hear that your scan didn't show any immediate cause for concern I can understand why you're still feeling anxious. It's good to know that the ultrasound technician has arranged a follow up appointment in 8 weeks and hopefully at that scan they will be able to get a clearer picture about what is happening with the lymph nodes.

In the meantime, I don't know if you feel that talking with your GP again might be useful. It may be that there are other tests they feel might be beneficial or perhaps you can discuss with them what the next steps might be after your scan in July. Hopefully they will be able to give you some reassurance.

If you think it would help to chat things through with one of our nurses you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you have some answers soon and that the doctors can set you on the right path to improving your symptoms.

    Best wishes,
