Lump

Breast lump found 10 weeks ago on right side, ultrasound confirmed cyst, they used fine needle to aspirate disappeared literally as they drained it, found a lump in left breast and was seen in clinic 2 days ago, ultrasound said cyst again so went in same procedure to aspirate however it wouldn’t budge at all. She really did give it a good go, heard her say to colleague it had a creamy consistency to it, but still it wouldn’t drain, consultant seen me said cyst and do a biopsy, called back into room for biopsy now waiting on results. Surely if it was only a cyst it would have drained?

  • Hi Kel86,

I am not sure whether a cyst would have definitely drained - this is something you could perhaps ask your doctor but I think it's good that they are being thorough and did a biopsy even if it sounds like your consultant suspects it is is cyst. It's all a bit of a waiting game now for you and the waiting is often a very anxious time as many of our community members will know but have a look at these helpful tips which I hope you will find helpful and will give you some good strategies to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will hear from others here who have had something similar before and that the biopsy results will confirm very soon that it is just a cyst.

    Keeping everything crossed for you!

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you… I’ve seen today the letter they have sent to my Gp saying they think it’s a possible Fibroadenoma which would explain why it wouldn’t drain, not sure why he didn’t say that to me though  but still we will wait for results of biopsy. Thank you for replying
