Transvaginal & pelvic scan showing borderline.

I went for an ultrasound scan last Tuesday as I’ve been spotting in between periods. Within 2 hours of receiving the ultrasound I got a text to tell me I needed to book a routine appointment with the doctor to discuss the results. I logged into the GP portal where it says borderline and then when I actually go into test results it says the following-

Normal size anteverted uterus with a heterogenous myometrial echotexture consistent with adenomyosis or early fibroid change, no focal fibroids seen.

Normal endometrial thickness of 3 mm consistent with cycle.

Normal appearances of both ovaries.

No free fluid or adnexal masses seen.

Normal appearances of both kidneys and bladder.

i can’t speak to the doctor until next Friday & am worrying a bit because i feel bloated 90% of the time and some days have a feeling of fullness. I’ve been spotting and also getting light period type aches in the back and stomach. Has anyone else gone through similar?

    I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and the anxious wait you now have to speak to your doctor about your results.

    Although no-one here can interpret your findings, our members do know how difficult this time can be so you are not alone Rb88lw and hopefully it won't be long until you receive some support and advice.

    Hey! So heterogenous myometrial echotexture refers to an uneven or irregular appearance of the uterine wall (myometrium) on an ultrasound scan. The report says this is consistent with adenomyosis or early fibroid change neither of which are cancerous if it's either of those but would need medical oversight. I know adenomyosis can cause bleeding between periods, heavy or painful periods as I was looking into this myself to get answers for heavy periods. My ultrasound came back clear so still no answers on this one for me! 

    Best thing to do is make a routine appointment with the GP as suggested and they can advise you further. Good luck!
