Vin3 surgery recovery and having a colonoscopy not long after

Hi everyone,

I had been bleeding for 18 months with recurrent cystitis. After lots of tests we discovered a lesion in my vulva. I had a biopsy and it came back VIN2. Within 2 weeks I had surgery and I was healing well however, I had to have a colonoscopy and they did that just under 3 weeks of having the VIN2 surgery (it came back VIN3 after surgery).

I have been bleeding from my vulva for 6 weeks on and off and it's so itchy. I have contacted my surgeon and I'm waiting for her to contact me.

The bowel prep for a colonoscopy is lethal and you are practical stuck to the toilet which I can imagine is not good for not long having VIN3 surgery.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this.

  • Hello Jacqui61 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

It sounds like you’ve been through a lot in a short space of time, and I can imagine it’s been difficult managing everything, especially while recovering from surgery and dealing with the aftermath of the colonoscopy. It’s good that you’ve reached out to your surgeon, and I hope she’s able to offer some clarity and support soon.

While I can’t speak from personal experience, many members here have faced similar challenges and might have helpful advice to offer. Balancing recovery with medical procedures can be very tough, but it sounds like you’re doing all the right things by keeping in touch with your healthcare team.

Wishing you strength and a smooth recovery in the days ahead.

    Best wishes,
