Vulva biopsy

I had a vulva biopsy 3 weeks this Friday just gone. I was told I’d hear back in 4/6 weeks, I haven’t heard anything yet but Friday I received a phone call asking me to go in for an ultrasound which I went for yesterday (Sunday) during the ultrasound sound on my cervix’s and ovaries I was told he was checking for any masses. Has anyone ever had this before? Driving myself crazy over thinking as no one told me I’d need an ultrasound so now I’m thinking the worst.

  • Hi Zoe

Sorry you are going through this. I had an ultrasound first and have now been urgently referred to gynae due to suspected vulva cancer. Could I ask did they do the biopsy there and then at your initial appointment or did they bring you back in to do the biopsy?

  • Hi Jessica. I had an initial appointment with an internal examination and was booked in for a biopsy under ga a few weeks later x

  • Thanks for replying. That makes sense and hopefully is what happens for me next week but I've heard people having biopsies done there and then so been worrying. X

  • Hi Zoe, just wondering if you have had your results back yet and how you are getting on?

I had a vulva biopsy on Thursday and was told 6-8 weeks for the results but she's took a large sample of tissue and so is certain she's removed everything anyway. X

  • Hello to both of you, Hope you don’t mind me commenting but I had a vulva biopsy taken six days ago and am waiting for results , told approx 2-3 week wait . Also a colposcopy has been recommended so waiting for that once wound healed , about same waiting time given .

Wondered how things have progressed for you both .

  • Hi Jazzle, of course not. So I waited 10 weeks for my results! (I know!!) Which confirmed I have VIN2 and VIN3 but my consultant was confident she had removed it all during the biopsy. I am due to see her again in December and it has grown back so I'm guessing another biopsy then. Good luck to you x

  • Hi Jessie88 ,

Thanks for the update .  I'm not to sure I understand much about VIN .  I was recommended for the biopsy it was said to rule out VaIN and any precancerous cells , not sure I understand about VaIN either . I actually got a text today with an appointment date at the end of October for the colposcopy  . The wound from the biopsy should be healed by then so next stage .  When the biopsy was done  on the 8th October the DR did say that a larger than first thought biopsy was taken but I do not believe all of it was taken on this first occasion  because I am on blood thinner tablets and prior to the appointment had not been advised to leave them off (perhaps I should of checked but I thought I would be called back for ia biopsy)  glad it was done there and then though . Thanks again and Good luck to you also....x
