Positive FIT Test

I'm 51 years' old and was referred for a FIT test as I have high platelets (have done for years as have psoriatic arthritis so not unusual) but further blood tests revealed slight anaemia, hence reason for FIT test. The result has come back positive at 13 and I've got a colonoscopy booked for the 15th May. My anxiety is through the roof and I've actually had stomach cramps and diahroreea for the past couple of days which I didn't have before and now starting to assume the worst. So worried!

  • Hello there I am andy. Iam brand new on here. My blood pressure was also very hiigh. Over 200 sometimes. Never lower than 170. I had a fit test and my go said it was positive and anything over 200 from the stool sample is very worrying. Iam waiting for an appointment for a colonoscopy ithink. Does anyone know what the reading from the stool sample meant and the over 200 scenario. Thank you and I hope everything works for the better for u. Andy. 44

  • Hi Mnic 74. I had my colonoscopy yesterday. I am pleased to say there is no cancer but j have diverticular disease. So will be eating more fibre and managing my symptons. I am doing race for life today, pleased to be fund raising for a great cause. Thank you for your support

  • Hi Louby1971,

That's fantastic news that nothing sinister was found! I'm so pleased. My Mum has diverticular disease and I thought they would find that on my colonoscopy. I hope that your symptoms improve with a higher fibre diet.

Best of luck with your Race for Life today! X

  • Hi Andy, a high FIT test can be caused by so many things like, polyps and piles. If you delve more into this website you will see lots of people on here that have had FIT test results and diagnosed with these type of things. I know it's easier said than done but try to destract yourself until you have further tests etc.

    WWishing you all the best!
