Abnormal cervix

Hi. For the last year my pelvic pain has got worse. Been to see GP numerous times and they keep just putting me on stronger painkillers. Got a phone call in September from GP saying I had ovarian cancer due to CA125 result. Lucky I had a private scan booked that night which confirmed I did not. Thank god. Also had a scan in NHS to confirm this as well. Couple of doctors said it sounds like endometriosis. I got the coil fitted in December for the pain. So from December to now the coil did not help the pain. I bled everyday. Just spotting and had a couple of proper periods in this time. The doctor then put me on the progesterone only pill for the pain. I had heavy PV bleeding which lasted 2 hours then stopped. Then Saturday just there I had a major PV bleed. Had to get rushed by ambulance to hospital as the bleeding wouldn’t stop. The next day doc did a transvaginal scan then looked at cervix through speclum and he said my cervix was grossly abnormal and he took swabs of my cervix and lining of womb. So I am in the 3 week wait which is so so hard. Anyone had grossly  abnormal cervix but the doc just looking at it

sorry for the very long post

  • Hello Gill05,

How frightening it must have been for you to be rushed by ambulance to the hospital with this heavy bleeding and to then be told that your cervix was grossly abnormal. Waiting for results is really the hardest thing and I hope that you will get some definite answers soon. While you are waiting, I thought I would share with you these helpful tips on how to cope while waiting for important news which I hope will give you some good strategies to help you deal with the stress and anxiety that goes with the long wait for answers.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who were told they had a grossly abnormal cervix and that they will tell you more about their shared experiences. We are keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern and that you won't have to wait long to get a definite diagnosis.

    Best wishes,
