Possible verrucas carcinoma

I have just had a call back from my GP after seeing him this afternoon about a small white lesion on my vulva which looks to me like possible verroucas carcinoma. He said after going back through my notes and seeing that I have had had high risk HPV for 3/4 years (I did tell him this at the appt) he has decided he will refer me to gyny on a 2ww for suspicion of gynaecological cancer. I know it could possibly be nothing to worry about and this is to rule it out but I am now really worried. I have repeat 12 monthly cerival smears due to the persistent high risk HPV and I'm worried this has also caused cancer to grow on my vulva. I know that vulva cancer in younger women (I am 36) is also not very common but has anyone has experience of this at all?

  • Hello Jessie88

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns, resulting in your GP referring you for a specialist opinion. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

We know that for many people, this period of waiting and uncertainty can be really difficult, and it's natural to consider all possible outcomes. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long for an appointment with the gynaecology team and they will be able to offer some reassurance. In the meantime, if you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (excluding bank holidays).

Do keep in touch Jessie88 and let us know how you get on at your appointment.

    Best wishes,
