High Ca 125

I have been having 2-3 weeks of abdo symptoms, bloating, tiredness, change in bowel habits. My Ca125 has come back 314.5. I understand there are non malignant causes for ca125 to be high but wondered if anyone has experience of them being this high and it not being something sinister? I have been referred for ultrasound urgently and gynae as well as asked to do the bowel screening FIT test. I am 37 and normally fit and well.

The forums I have seen have all been people with high ca125 but not as high as that which is making me worry more this is correlating to potentially how serious this is.

Any experiences of this would be appreciated.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms Hardingf01 and for the worry your Ca125 results are causing.

A lot of our members have been in a similar position to yourself Hardingf01, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

As you've mentioned in your post, there are a lot of other things that can cause a high Ca125 reading but if it would help to speak to one of our cancer nurses about this, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They will do all that they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

We're sending you all our support Hardginf01 and we'll have our fingers crossed the results of your upcoming tests will show that nothing sinister is at hand.

    Kind regards,

  • Good morning , about 5 years ago i had very heavy periods and pain was unbearable.. ca 125 was done and results came back at 425 i nearly passed out when the doctor telephoned me to say i was referred to hospital on 2weeks . Had an ultrasound and my lining was 19 mm so then a endometrial biopsy was done. That came back clear then had the merina coil was fitted and ca 125 was done again and it had reduced down to a 100.. the waiting is the worst my biggest problem was the internet.. hopefully you get ur appointment through soon

  • Thank you for your reply. Did they ever say what they think caused it? I ended up praying for a private scan yesterday but results have been sent to GP and with bank hol will have to wait till Tuesday. It’s so awful waiting as you say!!

  • Hi, they said it was due to heavy bleeding, with the lining being thicker.. they say loads of things can be the cause of higher readings..
