Hard palate excisional biopsy

Hello, I had a small lesion on the roof of my mouth removed 9th April and sent for biopsy.
I was told results would be 2-4 weeks but still haven’t heard anything (coming up to 4 weeks). Does anyone have any idea if the longer wait indicates that it is nothing to worry about or does the time frame really not make a difference as google suggests!

Going out of my mind back and forth from scenario to scenario , I just want to know what I’m dealing with!

Thank you, S x

  • Hello SHS2393,

Unfortunately, it is impossible to draw any conclusions from the fact that you haven't heard anything back after 4 weeks but if you feel you have been waiting for longer than you were told you would need to, I would give them a call just to check whether the results have come through or to ask whether they know how much longer it might take to get them.

It's normal to feel you are going out of your mind as you are waiting for these important results and you can easily imagine all sorts of scenarios in a situation like this. Hopefully it won't be long now until you find out more and get the full picture but in the meantime, I will share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for news.

    Best wishes,

  • Just had a phone call to go in tomorrow for the results. Is it bad news if they don’t tell you over the phone and want you in next day? Would they book a longer appointment for bad news?
    freaking out!

  • Hi SHS2393,

It's good to hear you've now got an appointment, although I can understand there is still a lot of uncertainty. Similar to what Lucie said, unfortunately it's not possible to read anything into this. It's quite common to have a face-to-face appointment to discuss results, and it will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you have.

I see you have also posted elsewhere on the forum about this, where you may receive replies from others.

Take care and best wishes for the appointment,
