Evening All, I’m a little nervous about posting on here but for the past 5 weeks all I’ve done is google calcification and biopsy etc and it’s driving me round the bend!
Im 42 and classed as high risk of getting breast cancer so from being 40 myself and my sister have been having yearly mammograms . The one I had in February this year has flagged up as suspicious and I had to go back for another one then an ultrasound then 2 needle core biopsies on the same day. I was told they had seen something and Calcification was mentioned but only in one breast. After 3 weeks of waiting for results and another appointment re arranged by the hospital I then got a phone call booking me in for another biopsy, a vacuum assisted one. I’d not even had the results from the previous 2 they had taken so understandably panic set in. Long story short I’ve now had the 3rd biopsy which turned into 4 which they took samples of the calcification whilst having a mammogram ( bizarre but amazing technology) so my poor boob is battered bruised and painful now. I’m hoping to get the results this week unless the results aren’t ready and my appointment gets rescheduled. I’m quite scared to be honest, breast cancer runs in my family, we don’t have the gene but my sister was diagnosed with it 2 years ago, thankfully she’s fine now. I googled calcification because I was hoping to be able to prepare myself but I’ve not really found anything apart from that it usually occurs in both breasts not just one and depending how it presents, the shape size ect depends what it could mean, benign or early stage breast cancer. Any advice greatly appreciated, Since the beginning of March I’ve not slept well and my brain won’t switch off when I go to bed and it’s taking its toll now.
